Paul and Irene Stephens-Griffin of Spring Hill, Fl met forty five years ago when they joined Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians. Traveling across the country and across international borders on a bus for eight months of the year, while performing together each night provides a strong foundation for lasting marriages and life-long friendships. There are many compelling stories that were forged out of these bonds.

Paul and Irene joined with other alumni of The Pennsylvanians from around the country as they descended upon The Villages, FL. Paul states, “It was rewarding to share our mutual experiences…to acknowledge our common foundation and to marvel at where the road had taken each of us. Unlike the two weeks of rehearsals at the Delaware Water Gap in Pennsylvania when we prepared for an international tour back in the 1970’s, we had only three hours to rehearse on the morning of Saturday, July 12th, 2014 and we performed that evening at Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages.”

Irene (originally from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, UK) says that “the outreach was so far-reaching that family and friends from around the globe contacted us to say how much they had enjoyed our show.” What a brave new world it is… no longer are the moguls of Hollywood and New York the sole gate-keepers to broadcast entertainment.

The performance was live "streamed" over the internet and those former Pennsylvanians who were unable to attend were still able to join in a shared experience courtesy of the World Wide Web.

Paul (originally from Manhasset, LI, NY) states, “I hope that this performance will remain a testament to the enduring talents of The Pennsylvanians and an inspiration for future generations to aspire to things that matter." "Music Matters." Albert Einstein stated: "If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician,"  "I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music... I get most joy in life out of music." Beauty was paramount in Einstein's concept of the universe – inspired not least by the "architecture" and "inner unity" he found in the music of Bach and Mozart. Einstein's work was very much an attempt to unify physics, to explain apparently disparate elements within the same framework.”

Our Very Best Wishes To Everyone: for a future enhanced with the exciting Rhythm of Life, filled with Dynamic Harmonies, Tantalizing Timbres, and a Melody that Lingers On. A picture paints a thousand words but music expresses that for which there are no words.
Paul is in the process of writing his book about his experiences in the Navy where he was in the color guard at The White House for the funeral of President John F Kennedy, and later in the music business with network television, broadway, the BBC, Thames Television…and still later in the hospitality industry as the owner of a resort hotel…John Cleese and Fawlty Towers it was not!
